For those who have a loved one who is dying, who is facing the end of life, these holy days of Hallowmas, can be quite hard. I know what it is to walk with someone who is facing the end of life. It is hard for both the one who is dying and the ones who love that one. So for these holy days where we remember and celebrate those who have gone before, let us also pray for those who are dying and those who are caring for those who are dying.
Let us pray:
Gracious and Loving God,
You are closer than our hands and feet
You are closer than the very air that we breathe
Comfort those who are facing the end of life
Console their loved ones
Give strength and perseverance to the caregivers
Envelop us all with Your loving presence
Grant us Your abiding peace
Walk with us as we grieve
Assuage our fears
Remind us that we are not alone
Your Holy Spirit
Guides
Directs
and Carries us through
As we face the end of life,
May we share in each other’s lives
Give us time to hear one another’s stories
Give us space and grace to say goodbye
Give us hope in the face of despair
And light in the face of darkness
In these sacred last days
May we be evermindful that You accompany us every step of the way.
In the name of Immanuel, God with us, we pray, Amen.
