Sacramental Living (Watercolor on Paper)
This Sunday we celebrate World Communion Sunday.
A Prayer for World Communion Sunday
As we come to the table
As we come to be nourished
As we come to experience Your abiding presence and love
We are mindful that we do this as a community
We are not alone
We are surrounded by the cloud of witnesses
Both those who have gone before and those all across the world
When we break this bread
We are reminded
of our brokenness
of our divisions
of our prejudices
We are reminded of our need for Your grace
Yet when we eat this bread
We are reminded
of the hope of reconciliation
of the hope of unity
that brokenness is not the end of the story
We are reminded of the good news of Your abiding presence
and love that daily nourishes us
When we pour from the cup
We are reminded
of the libation of Your life
of the call to sacrificial living
of those who have offered their whole lives for the sake of the
Gospel
We are reminded of Your calling to live lives of poured out living
When we drink from the cup
We are reminded
that it is You who fills us
that it is You who sustains us
that it it You who quenches our thirst
When we come to the table, we are reminded of those who hunger
and thirst
May we be ambassadors of Your love and Presence
May we feed those who hunger and thirst, both physically and spiritually
And each time we gather around the table,
may we be blessed by Your presence
so that we can be a blessing to others.
In You,
we find unity
we find purpose
we find hope
we find love
we find peace.
Amen.
