Where Art & Life Connect . . .
In June of 2013, Charissa had the privilege of serving as an Artist in Residence for the Duke Youth Academy. The Duke Youth Academy is a 2 week intensive Christian Formation experience geared toward upper aged high school students. We live life in community with our days structured around themes like baptism, incarnation, passion, resurrection, etc. Each day has morning prayers, worship, meals together, and plenaries given by Duke Divinity School professors. This event inlcuded leading 4 workshops on Contemplative Painting, 1 Going Deeper Workshop on Mandalas, helping plan the Artists' showcase -- a worshipful experience that shows how arts and theology weave together, as well as helping plan worship and integrate arts into worship.
